Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera contains antibiotic properties and is used most commonly for first aid by eliminating pain and reducing the incidence of infection. It is very useful for sunburn, cuts, insect bites, poison ivy, scrapes and itching. This plant can be used by breaking the the leaf and applying the juice directly on the affected area. It is also be used as an additive in many over the counter products. It can be used both internally and externally and is a product that everyone should have on hand either in plant form or as a gel for various problems listed above.

Bayberry
Bayberry is a good herb to take to help with colds and can be used as a gargle for tonsillitis and when you have a sore throat. It can be useful in building your immune system and helping with energy by cleaning out the blood, veins and arteries.

Bee Pollen
Bee Pollen can also be useful in building your immune system as well as give you energy. It helps with intestinal problems like colitis and constipation. It can be used for allergies, hay fever and asthma. It has been used to help lower blood pressure and aids people with hypoglycemia.

Black Cohosh
Black Cohosh is a wonderful herb for women who are going through menopause or are experiencing menstrual problems. It will help with hot flashes because it contains natural estrogen. Because of its sedative properties, it can help with asthma, coughing, insomnia, epilepsy, cramps, high blood pressure and other nervous system disorders.

Burdock
Burdock is a good blood purifier and can reduce swelling around joints. This makes it very useful for rheumatism, gout and arthritis. It is helpful to take for allergies, asthma, bronchitis and hay fever. When applied as a poultice, it is helpful in healing boils, acne and cancer sores.

Butchers Broom
Butchers Broom helps improve circulation and has anti- inflamatory properties, thus helping with hemorrhoids, leg cramps, phlebitis, blood clots and varicose veins. It is also said to lower cholesterol and help prevent atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)

Capsicum
Capsicum, AKA Cayenne, has many uses but is most popular for helping cleanse the body and help control high blood pressure. It is also very useful when you have a cold, bronchitis, congestion, chills and fever. It is considered a herb that will help other herbs go quickly to the parts of the body where needed. It is also useful for sprains and varicose veins because it aids blood circulation.

Cascara Sagrada
Cascara Sagrada is a wonderful herb to use if you have chronic constipation and is not supposed to be habit forming. It is also helpful to get rid of gallstones.

Chamomile
Chamomile is very popular in tea form. Because of its sedative properties, it is useful for calming the nerves, menstrual cramps, diarrhea, indigestion, gas, coughing and stomach spasms.

Chickweed
Chickweed can be used for stomach ulcers and inflamed bowels as well as inflammation and fever. It is a blood purifier and can help with arteriosclerosis, bronchitis and lung congestion and mucus. A poultice can be made and used for boils, burns and rashes.

Dong Quai
Dong Quai is another herb that is fantastic for females to use to help regulate menstruation, helps with menopause, hot flashes and cramps. It helps increase circulation thus helping with bruises, blood clots and hypertension and is considered a blood purifier.

Echinacea
Echinacea is a herb that should be in everyone's household. It is best known for its antiseptic properties and combined with zinc is great for sore throats and colds. Echinacea is a blood cleanser and will increase your body's resistance to infection.

Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus is useful for all cold and flu problems from sore throat to asthma, croup and bronchitis. The oil is useful for sinus congestion and to put on wounds to prevent infection.

Evening Primrose
Evening Primrose is another herb that has been found to be effective with allergies, coughs, asthma and other cold related illnesses. It has sedative properties that help with high blood pressure, hyperactivity, menstrual cramps and other female problems.

Feverfew
Feverfew is used for aches and pains, arthritis, and headaches. It helps with allergies, chills, colds and sinus headaches. This is another herb that can be used for menopause and hot flashes.

Flaxseed
Flaxseed is well known as a natural laxative. It is best when purchased whole and ground up in a coffee grinder as it is needed. Only when it is ground up does it release the essential fatty acids needed to work. It can also be used for colds, bronchitis and pneumonia.

Gotu Kola

This herb is very useful for problems with the nervous system such as cramps, hysteria, nervous headaches, insomnia, nervousness and muscle spasms. It is helpful for those with tremors and restlessness commonly associated with Parkinson's Disease.

Licorice
Licorice another great herb for female problems because it is a source of estrogen. It can also be used for obesity as it stimulates the adrenal glands. It is good for coughs and colds as well.

Lobelia
Lobelia is a very stong relaxant and is helpful for people with Parkensons, epilepsy and spasms. It is great for colds, bronchitis, congestion and pneumonia.

Mullein

Peppermint
Peppermint tea is a wonderful sedative for the stomach and bowels and can be useful with heartburn, constipation, stomach cramps, gas and menstrual pain. Applying peppermint oil mixed in a cream base on your stomach and lower abdomen can help with bowel and stomach spasms and menstrual pain as well. Taken internally it can be useful for colds, fever and insomnia.

Red Raspberry
I have found Red Raspberry to be invaluable during menstruation. Drinking the tea can relieve pain and keep the flow regular and decreases uterine swelling. It can also be useful for afterpains from childbirth.

Rosemary
Rosemary stimulates the circulatory system and is useful for high blood pressure, cirulation and spasms. When used as a tea, rosemary can help with nervousness and will help you sleep. It is also great for headaches and depression.

St. Johnswort
St. Johnswort has been highly touted for its ability to help with depression. However, it is also good to use during menopause and will help if a person has a painful menstrual cycle.

Scullcap
Scullcap can be used to help with high blood pressure, hypertension and spasms. Because it has a calming effect on the nervous system is is also useful for those with Parkinson's disease who experience restlessness and tremors.

Spearmint
Spearmint is a useful herb to have around the house. It is helpful to stop vomiting and with gas. In tea form can be used to help with colds, flu and fever.

Thyme
Thyme can be used as a tonic for the digestive system. It will help with bowel problems, gastritis, colic, diarrhea and heartburn. It can be used to help treat cold symptoms such as bronchitis, asthma, laryngitis, and sore throat.

Uva Ursi
This herb is great for kidney and bladder infections, bedwetting and to keep down uric acid. It can help with a heavy menstuation. It is also helpful for those with Diabetes as it helps to control the blood sugar levels.

Valerian
Valerian is known for its sedative powers and is helpful with convulsions, hysteria, insomnia, palsy and spasms. It can be used to regulate high blood pressure as well.

Wintergreen
Wintergreen is an effective herb to use in a hot compress for sciatica and pains in the joints or in the muscles. It is also useful when used in small amounts to help with gas and urinary disorders.

Witch Hazel
Witch Hazel is a great herb to use in liquid form for poison ivy, insect bites, burns and sores.
